Medieval Market Trader Registration
When the Market takes place
The trading hours for the market are:
Friday 1pm - 5pm
Saturday 10am - 5pm
Sunday 10am - 4pm
Setting up is on Thursday evening between 6 and 8pm, or on Friday morning between 9 am and 1pm. Clearing away is on Sunday between 5 and 7pm.
Where the Market takes place
Most of the stalls are in the Threshing Room, a large room off the Castle Courtyard. You can drive into the Courtyard to unload while the Castle is closed to the public - so that's after 5pm or before 10am on any day. The Threshing Room is fairly dark, and can be draughty - you are recommended to dress warmly, and to bring additional lighting. Battery-operated lighting is a good idea but there is a mains supply; you should bring all the cables and extensions that you might need and these should be PAT-tested.
Two stalls are upstairs in the Solar. This is a warmer and dryer space but it is harder work to get all your stuff in and out as you have to negotiate the spiral stairs. Solar spaces are invitation only.
What we provide
We provide you with a table (approx. 6ft long), one or two chairs as appropriate, and access to mains electricity if required. You also have admission to Bolton Castle for the three days and will need to wear a Festival wristband to show this. Please register on arrival at the Festival Reception and wristbands will be supplied.
